RESIN

Controlled Solidification for High-Performance Resins

Resins are not “simple” melt products.

They are sensitive to heat, oxygen and residence time — and quality can change within minutes.

For more than 60 years, KAISER Process and Belt Technology has been designing solidification systems for resin manufacturers worldwide. Our focus is not only on cooling — but on protecting product quality during the critical transition from melt to solid.

Why Resin Solidification Is Critical

Resins such as epoxy, phenolic, hydrocarbon, polyterpene, polyester, acrylic, alkyd and natural resins are highly sensitive to:

  • Thermal degradation
  • Oxidation
  • Discoloration (yellowing, browning, blackening)
  • Excessive residence time
  • Local overheating in feeding systems

Even minor process instability can lead to measurable changes in color index, mechanical performance and downstream processing behavior.
Solidification determines final quality.

Our Technical Capability

KAISER is the only supplier offering three dedicated pastillation systems, selected individually according to viscosity, pellet size and required capacity.

Viscosity Handling

  • Standard pastillation: 50 – 30,000 mPas
  • Advanced feeding technology: up to 200,000 mPas

For higher throughputs, we supply:

  • Single belt flakers
  • Double belt coolers
  • Proven systems exceeding 10,000 kg/h for various resins

Advanced Feeding Technology for Sensitive Resins

Especially for epoxy and specialty resins, the KAISER feeding funnel system provides:

✔ Wide viscosity handling (50 – 200,000 mPas)
✔ Self-draining design – no stagnation zones
✔ Narrow and controlled residence time
✔ Integrated melt level measurement
✔ Optional inert gas blanketing

These features minimize oxidation and thermal stress while ensuring reproducible product geometry and color stability.

From Lab Trials to Full-Scale Production

Whether you are:

  • Converting from flaking to pastillation
  • Increasing plant capacity
  • Improving color stability
  • Processing high-viscosity specialty grades
  • Reducing oxidation during solidification

KAISER supports you from feasibility trials in our technical center to full-scale industrial implementation.

Let’s Evaluate Your Resin Application

Every resin behaves differently.

The optimal solution depends on viscosity, thermal sensitivity, pellet size and production capacity.

Send us:

  • Product type
  • Melt temperature
  • Viscosity range
  • Target capacity
  • Desired product form (pastille or flake)

Our engineers will evaluate the most suitable system configuration.
